Singapore Aquaculture Technologies

SingaporeSea Bass2021 - 2025

RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System)

Background & Challenge

Singapore Aquaculture Technologies operates a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) for sea bass farming. The facility faced persistent challenges with nitrogen management, requiring frequent water exchanges that consumed significant energy and increased operational costs. Traditional multi-stage biological treatment systems proved unreliable, with periodic crashes causing substantial financial losses.

Our Solution

WaterDoctor deployed a 6m³ SND biological treatment system integrated with the existing 48m³ RAS EOP aquaculture wastewater. The SND bacteria perform simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in a single aerobic process, eliminating the need for separate treatment stages. AquaOS monitors water quality parameters in real time, automatically adjusting SND dosing for optimal performance.
